Frequently asked questions about wrapping
Why foil?
Aplicating foil will protect the original paint of your car against extreme weather, flying insects, as well as from damage resulting from minor collisions, such as parking lots. The application range of ColorChange products also enables you to change the color of a vehicle, or just protect the outer clear original varnish by our Stoneprotect foil layer. The foil can be used as an advertising medium, it can be arbitrarily suppressed by adding more information-carrying layers installed on a vehicle.
What lifespan?
The manufacturer says 5 to 7 years, the recommended application time is 5 years.
What happens after removing the foil?
Throughout the time when the foil is in use the vehicle retains its original paint in an unchanged condition. After removal, our professional film leaves no traces, artifacts nor effects.
I have an older car and slightly damaged paint. Is it possible to apply the foil?
Application is possible. But if it is mechanically damaged paint (minor scratches, damage from stones, etc.) bear in mind that the paint defects will affect the application of foil. We recommend consultation with our engineer.
What effect have weather conditions (sun, frost, etc..) on the lifetime of films? Alternatively, the salt in the winter time?
As the years of guarantee from the foil manufacturer are given, the influences on well-made installation does not reduce the parameters or the appearance of the applied film.
Could the foil be damaged by fuel?
The quality of foil is not affected by motor gasoline or diesel, or other vehicle fluids. Incredible as it sounds, in the case of vandalism, such as splashes of color spray, the damage can be easily removed by the appropriate solvent!
What is the procedure like, when only a part of a body and so the foil is damaged?
Our foils show higher resistance to mechanical damage than a simple paint on a vehicle. Abrasions from minor collisions can usually be polished! Thus a real damage in most cases is considered to be yet only an explicit tear of the foil. In this case, it is possible to remove the damaged segments of foil - not necessarily corresponding to body segments - but usually such as a fender, door, etc. and reinstall a new foil on the repaired part.
Can a vehicle with foil be commonly cleaned in a carwash?
When the installation is made in perfect quality, using a carwash with rotating brushes is absolutely no problem. Sufficient example is the German taxi: the vast majority of vehicles is coated right with KPMF beige foil. In most cases taxis in operation 24 hours a day, are always ready and clean for each customer. The bad weather is no exception as well as several wash cycles per day. But he program recommended is washing without hot wax!
Is it preferable to hand-wash?
Hand-washing is usually used for precise body wash, as well as to prevent paint damage by brushes rotating in automatic carwashes. Because, unlike in case of a unprotected paint, rotary brushes do not do any harm to well installed foil, hand washing is only a matter of personal choice.
Could the film be damaged during high-pressure washing contactless device?
It could and it's very likely. The water flow directed onto certain parts of the body (foil at the edges, corners, etc.) can really tear off the foil, or otherwise damage it. Film is thus possible to wash, but only with certain knowledge of this issue. We do not recommend visiting facilities where the operator does not have the experience with washing of vehicles coated with foil.
How to treat foil on a vehicle?
The film looks like a normal paint. This means that you can polish it, abrade, etc. We use the same products used as paint treatments that are readily available on the market.
Can you apply a customer made theme?
In the product range of KPMF VWS foils there is a film designed for printing. This way you can transfer any graphical element to foil, including photos. Against the effects of weather and UV rays, the printing is then protected by lamination process. After installation, the vehicle with such a film has the same characteristics as any other film of the series ColorChange or Stoneprotect. The lifetime of such applications is 5 years.
